The summary of the fable

 The fable is a story about the ant and the grasshopper. The ant works very hard in summer for storing the food for winter. But the grasshopper is lazy and just sings in summer. In winter, the ant has many foods to eat, but the grasshopper doesn’t have any food to eat and go to ant’s house to ask for help. But the ant is very unfriendly and laughs on the grasshopper. The ant doesn’t give any food to grasshopper. Lastly, the grasshopper died.  In this story, we can know that if you work hard, you can have a better life.

My opinion about the fable

After I read the story, I think that it is different with the Aesop fable. Although the beginning of both stories are very sammilar, the ending is totally different. Tom just like the grasshopper, he likes to have fun and don't like to work. And George just likes the ant, he works hard for his whole life. Tom left his family and his job, and went to find his lifestyle. He just like the grasshopper, singing all over the summer, and did't prepare for the winter. He plays for the whole life and don't perpare for the future. George just like the ant, work hard for the future. But the ending is different. Tom has a better life than George, since Tom married with a rich woman. And he didn't need to work while George works very hard. In this story, it told me that this world is very unfair, but we still need to work hard because not all people as lucky as Tom.

I support the ant because i like to save for future, the ant teach us very well that saving for future prevent all kind of problems in future.

 My opinion about  friendship is that when people are related to each other for happiness and sadness but it  depends how far we  have  known the person. When we know that a person really trustworthy, we make him or her as a best friend.In the article, some of the readers feel that they can trust theit friends and they can freely share their good and bad moments with them,but some of them stays totally on opposite side,they are saying about friendship is  betrayeding ,but most people beleive in friendship because they think that it is very important essential part of a human life

Summary from the article "Sunday in the Park"

The story Sunday in the park is about two family that were in a park. suddenly a fat  child was throwing sand to Larry; the another families son and that made them stop playing. The father of the fat child told him that it was ok that continue throwing sand if he wanted to and the Larrie's parents were uncomfortable with that. After that the fat boy's father wanted to fight with larry's father and larry's mother was angry for the reaction of her husband that he didnt say anything on their way home, then Larry continued crying.

Oneday i was waiting for the bus for  an hour to get to the lagcc. I was the only one at that bus stop. When a bus arrived i got the bus and sat down on the front of the bus. At the next stop there were few people wating for the bus. When everyone from that stop got the bus, the driver close the door and suddenly a black guy was knocking at the door to open. The driver opned it and he let him got the bus. after he got the bus he tried different mta card to pay his fair. but none of them were going through. Dritver said to him that you did not know that you had no money and he said to him get off the bus on the next stop as he had no fair, that black guy suddenly hit the driver facce without saying anything.That was so shocked. Everyone in the bus was scared. The driver stopped the bus and that guy fled away.At that day i was late in the class. But i think that guy should not have done that

I think the point of this reading was to understand more about Henrietta and be more clear about how far we have read from the book. The author was trying to give us a short note about the Henrietta and her cells.
i really liked and enjoyed this reading, because it made clear scense to me about Henrietta and its short description about Hella cells halped me to understand clear. I really needed to read this kind of reading to understand more clear about the book, because when i was reading the book i was very often felt in sleep and could not understand that clear. and it helped

 

 

  summary:-

HeLa cells began developing the medicine and they became very important. Those cells are essential to develope the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping and in vitro fertilization. Henrietta’s cells were made up by the code name HeLa. Her real name didn’t announce  until the 1970s. The author Rebecca introduced with Henrietta in 1988 in a biology class by her teacher. But her teacher  only knew Henrietta's real name and  she was black. The author was so desperate to know the full story about her, but it did not happen until Rebecca went to graduation  school .

Deborah  dont know her mother, because she was a child when Henrietta died, so when she found out that some part of her mother still alive she was obsessed   to learn more about her mother. Eventhough, some companies were making millions  by those cells, but  Henrietta’s family still spend their lives with poverty most of the time.

In 1960, scientists thought Henrietta's cells were becoming super strong. They started doing the research of mix Henrietta's cells with others. They wanted to get answers from mixed cells which are died or radiation changed. Most of cells were contaminated. The mouse cells with Henrietta's cells was the only best example. They published the result and announced that man-animal cells are alived  in lab.
 Henrietta's older sons, Lawrence and Sonny were doing well on their own. However, Henrietta's daughter, Deborah was pregnant when she was sixteen year-old; she  is a violent mother. when her child make a mistake, she used to beat him. the younger son, Joe is dropped out of school in the seventh grade and then he is in prison because he killed a person.

In 1966's, a geneticist talks to Gey that he finds a technical problem in their field. He was working on cell cloning and hybrids, mapping human genes, and using cultures to cure cancer. He also do the research for looking the new genetic markets. He found that, there was one thing that in common in his research, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-A was contained in his research. They were almost from of black Americans. Then they related to Henrietta's case, and they spent more time developing genetic tests Hela cells.
Back to the 2000s, author was waiting two hours for Sonny for getting  more information about Henrietta. She knew Lawrence was the only child of Henrietta who remember her. Lawrence said some covered things about Hopkins hospital such as test on black people, hide the truth about Henrietta and Henrietta's family know nothing about her.
In 1970-1973,Gey came up with cancer. He wanted his cells will like Henrietta's that can help advance science in the process, so he asked his surgeons to take the cells from his pancreas. However, the surgeons did not do it because he worried if they cut the cancer it would  kill Gey. After Gey recovered, he found out  that other scientists needed his help. After a while, Gey died. Before he died, he told Mary it is ok to release Henrietta's real name if someone asked. Finally, people know Henrietta Lack who provide the immortal cells

At the end of 1951, the world was already affected by big polio epidemic. NFIP turned to Gey and few other cell culture experts for help to test vaccine. Gey founded that HeLa cells were susceptible to the virus and HeLa cells were what NFIP was looking for. NFIP started to sell HeLa cells to other researchers. By the help of HeLa cells, researchers around the word mad several important scientific advances in quick succession, such as freezing cells, standardization of the field, clone or proving forty-eight chromosomes. HeLa cells also made a contribution to study nuclear or to test cosmetic. As the Microbidigical asociates’ business expanding, HeLa cells were widely used in the lab. But by the mid-fifties, Gey write letters to let them use HeLa cell strictly. Jerome syverton asked Gey for help to write a book about HeLa cells. Gey told him to withhold the patient’s name. They made a deal. The story said her name was Helen.

After Henrietta’s death. Lawarence took care of his brothers and Deborah and he worked two jobs. Ethel and Galen moved into the house. They abused Henrietta’s children and did not give them enough food. In  Lawarence moved into a new house with his girlfriend, brothers and Deborah in 1951. By the help of cootie, the writer had a visit of the house where Henrietta grew up and her tomb.And she also had some word with withe Lacks. They did not like black Lacks.

A person named Chester Southam got a crazy thought that he could inject HeLa cells into human as experiment. HeLa cells were injected into patients without telling the truth, just like Nazis had done to Jewish prisoner. Finally, the suspension to Southam’s and Mandel’s licenses were stayed, leaving them both one-year probation instead.

impression:It is really to crue to use human as experiment. In the story, a doctor injected patients with cancer cells without permision.

When i read in english i fall in sleep. But most of the time  i use my dictionary to hook up the unknown words.Sometimes i write the unknown words  down and make a note for future. The easy in English is, its more understandable than other languages. But difficult in  english is hard to translate to my language.
I read in bus or subway.

I think Dr. Jerskey should teach us at least one more day to help us understand more and more.

 Tumors had spread throughout Henrietta’s body. She suffered pains all over her body . She was receiving a blood transfusion as usual when suddenly her whole body became rigid. She felt such a severe pain that she had to  bit her tongue. The doctor injected her with a heavy dose of morphine and the doctor stopped all medications and treatments. As a result  Henrietta’s condition worsened and  she died a month later. When Gey heard that Henrietta had died, he called her husband to give him the sad news about her death, and also to ask for permission to perform an autopsy on her body.  In the end, her family kept her body for a while and then, she was buried next to her mother.

The writter went Baltimore looking for henrietta's  family because she wanted more information about Henrietta.   Finally, She found the place that Henretta used to live in.   She met Courtney Speed and others who were going to open a museum of Henrietta’s honor. The writer  saw a  picture and a documentary about Henrietta and her unique cells, but she could not talk about Henrietta without leting her families know. 

Then the writer traveled to Clover, Virginia  she  was looking for Lacks Town. When she arrived  there, she introduced herself with Cootie, Henrietta’s first cousin. His name is Hector Henry  but everyone call him “Cootie” because when he was a kid, he got polio disease and a  white doctor got him into the hospital passing him off as his son. The doctor did that because the hospital did not treat black patients at that time.  

 He came back to his house, after a year but he still could not move his arms very well like a normal person. He built his own house two times because the first one  burnt.  Cootie talked about Henrietta with the writter. He told her that some people were saying that Henrietta’s sickness was made by a person, but also others said that it was by a doctor. No one knows what is true .

According to the pages  34 to 66, Gey took the sample of Henrietta's cells to his lab and let Mary to care of it. Gey tried many kinds of  examinations  but all of them died. So, Mary did not think that Henrietta's cell could alive. She put her cells into clean test tubes and wrote “HeLa” . Gey interested in cell culture when he was in college. After he graduated, he and Margaret built their first lab. In his lab, Henrietta's cells started growing. When Henrietta went home, she started doing everything like before.  She enjoyed her life she would go to dance when her children went to sleep. Henrietta sent her daughter, Elsie, to Crownsville State Hospital because she could not take care of her based on her pregnancy. She went to see her every week. oneday henrietta said to her cousins that are uncomfortable on treatments. Rebecca called Roland Pattiillo wh. He tried to ask her some questions to know her purpose. Then, he gave her phone number of Henrietta's daughter, Deborah. She connected  her, but she got nothing from her. Deborah lets her to look for her father or brothers. When Rebecca called Day, he did not want to talk about Henrietta's cells. Henrietta did not know that her cells grow in lab. Gey went  to a show to say cells' researches. He shows a bottle of cells but he did not remind that they came from Henrietta. Gey also sent Henrietta's cells to other labs. Henrietta started to feel sick inside her. When she told the doctor her condition, the doctor could not help her. After her thirty-first birthday, she sttayed  at hospital. Gey visited her and told her about her cells, she was happy that her cells could  help others.

    The author Rebeca Skloot knew about  Henritta Leacks from her biology instructor. She was interested about Henrietta the first time she heard. she talks about the immortal cells from Henrietta in this book.

     Henrietta grew up with her cousins by her grandfather. She left school in sixth grade and had to work to support her grandfather. Day and she got married after she got her first baby. They both worked on a tobbaco field. Her family left the clover after war started in the USA. When Henrietta was bearing Deborah she felt something was wrong in her womb. She discused about that with her cousins and she told that to her husband. She went to the the Hopkins hospital with her husband to check that out.Doctor Jones cut a sample from Henriatta's tumor to do a biopsy but Telinde and  Gey took her cells without letting her know.
